Our Success Stories
Shobie
Shobie was brought to a local veterinary
office to be euthanized after
her owner learned she had heartworm. Luckily for us and Shobie, several
of our Club members work at this veterinarian's office and convinced the
owner to surrender Shobie to Boxer Rescue. Shobie had been used for
breeding and had been an outside dog. Her ears had severe fly bites on
them and were scabbed over and raw and bleeding in some places. One
of her ears still does not stand properly after the damage done to it by the
fly bites. Shobie was treated for her heartworm, spayed and updated on her
vaccinations and then she went to a foster home. In her foster home, she
proved to be a clown. After being an outside dog and then being in a kennel
for 30 days, her housetraining needed some work. After getting some weight
back on her and working on her housetraining, Shobie was placed in a home
with a single man. After going to her new home, Shobie regressed in the
housetraining area and her new owner spent many months working on her
housetraining and building up her confidence after all the changes in her life.
She now is a spoiled housedog who has the run of the house. Her new owner
has now gotten involved with Boxer Rescue and also fosters other rescue
Boxers from time to time for Missouri Valley Boxer Club. |
